Falling a Little Flat or: Power of the Patriot

Salutations™!!

So it has happened again.  Bill Belichick or as I like to call him Belicheat has found himself and the team he leads, the Patriots (Suckriots), in a bit of trouble, again. It’s been a couple of things in the past: video taping other teams’ practices and reading signals of other teams.  Whether they did or didn’t, I really don’t remember if they were convicted, it’s just a list that grows further.  Now, they’re being accused of deflating their footballs to make it easier for the Quarterback to throw the balls and easier for the receivers to catch them.  Not only accused, the NFL officials found that out of 12 balls, 11 of them were under the proper inflation weight.

I’ve made it no secret that I don’t like the Suckriots.  I just find it hard to believe that Sean Payton, head coach of the Saints was suspended for a year for encouraging a bounty program against QBs, which although harsh and somewhat barbaric, isn’t cheating; that’s driving, and Belicheat just gets a slap on the wrist and a fine.  He makes a shload of money so fines mean nothing.  Taking a draft pick or two doesn’t matter until next year.

Why, yes, Tom, they do.

There has been a call to ban the Patriots from the Super Bowl.  The problem here is, the Super Bowl is set.  Even had the deflation not happened, my favorite anecdote is that the Suckriots would have won had they been playing with bowling balls, the outcome would have been the same as the Colts couldn’t tackle anyone.  You can’t just let the Colts in as “first runners up” because the crowned beauty queen can’t fulfill her obligations.  It just doesn’t work that way.  A part of me wishes they could do that, but it’s just not possible.

And some say that it’s “no big deal,” but I disagree.  Whether or not that it had any impact on this game, it is still cheating.  It’s like saying, well, he only had the answers to 4 of the 10 questions on the test, or he only stole 2 pieces of candy from the store, or he only peeked at hide-and-seek for a few seconds.  Cheating is cheating.  And, what’s to stop them from escalating to something else.  Deflation is the gateway cheat, after all.

I think that after the Super Bowl, Belicheat should be suspended for a year.  Let him coach the big game, they’re there.  But, after that? Kick him out for a year and let’s see if that proves any points to them. I doubt it, as they are the league’s golden boys, but I think fines and lost draft picks aren’t going to matter, nor do any good.

The best scenario for me is that the Seahawks beats them and puts them to bed for this year and then Belicheat is suspended.  That would be best, for me.  What do you think, Dear Reader?  What do you think is the best course of action?  Send me a message and let me know!

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Scorp out!

“When I came in Monday morning, I was shocked to learn of the news reports about the footballs. I had no knowledge whatsoever of this situation until Monday morning. I would say I learned a lot more about this process in the last three days than I knew or had talked about it in the last 40 years that I’ve coached in this league.” – Bill Belichick
